  3. Dear fellow SYSOP,
  4.  
  5. This is the read me file for the documentation for RBBS-PC
  6. version 17.2B/0806.  It should be a part of RBBS-DOC.ZIP,
  7. containing the following files:
  8.  
  9. RBBSDOC1.ASC   1st half of documentation (pages 1 - 142)
  10. RBBSDOC2.ASC   2nd hald of documentation (pages 143ff.)
  11. 172B.DOC       Supplemental documentation for 17.2B
  12.  
  13. The first two files are unchanged from 17.2A.
  14.  
  15. 17.2A's documentation has these 3 major changes:
  16.  
  17. 1.  a 4 column left margin so that it can be printed on hole
  18.     punched paper.   
  19.  
  20. 2.  the table of contents marks with an "*" all sections that
  21.     are new or significantly revised
  22.  
  23. 3.  a version of the documentation is available in Word Perfect
  24.     4.2 format for people who want to edit or reformat it
  25.     easily.   It is on Ken Goosens' board, 703-978-6360.

  27. This file part of a larger set of files and should not be
  28. distributed alone.

  30. RBBS-PC Version CPC17-2B is distributed via three mandatory and four
  31. optional standard "ZIP" files.   Two sets of merges are available but
  32. not automatically distributed.

  63. Simply uncompress the first three files and follow the instruction in the
  64. RBBS-PC documentation entitled, "Installing RBBS-PC for the First Time."
  65.  
  66. For those who have never operated an electronic bulletin board before,
  67. we suggest getting Bantam Books' "The Complete Electronic Bulletin Board
  68. Starter Kit" by Charles Bowen and David Peyton (ISBN 0-553-34552-4).
  69. RBBS-PC's documentation is only a "reference" and is not nearly as good
  70. a learning guide for new SYSOP's.  However, the book only covers RBBS-PC
  71. version 15.1C, and therefore does not cover new features.  Version 17.2B
  72. is downward compatible with the system files of 15.1C.
